Thornton Commits to Melfort for 2022/2023

The Melfort Mustangs are excited to announce another commitment to our 2022/2023 roster!

2004-born defenceman Ty Thornton has committed to the Mustangs for next season. Ty has spent the last two seasons with his hometown club, the Sherwood Park Kings U18 AAA in the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL).

“Ty is a well-rounded defenceman, that sees the game extremely well,” said Head Coach and General Manager Trevor Blevins. “His combination of size and skill should suit him well in the SJHL.”

The 6’1” blue liner scored eight goals for the Kings this season, and added eight more assists in 38 games. His eight goals were tied for sixth-most on the team, and the most among defencemen. Thornton also tallied three assists in five playoff games.

During the shortened 2020/2021 season, Thornton tallied a goal and an assist in five games for the Kings.
