The Melfort Mustangs have acquired 2000-born Randen Schmidt from the Whitecourt Wolverines in exchange for a Player Development Fee.
Schmidt, from Regina, Saskatchewan, has spent his entire junior career with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League (WHL). Over the last three seasons with the Blades he has experience playing both Forward and Defence.
“Randen is a player we’re excited to bring in. He’s got a lot of Junior hockey experience and leadership and will be an asset to our team.” Mustang Head Coach and GM Trevor Blevins said. “He’s a very versatile hockey player and can be used as both a Forward and a Defenceman.”
In 129 Games Played with the Blades, Schmidt scored three goals and added 17 assists for 20 points. Previous to Saskatoon, Schmidt played with his hometown Regina Pat Canadians U18 team.
