Melfort Duo Take Players of the Week Honours

The Melfort Mustang duo of Carson Albrecht and Justin Ball have once again been honoured in the SJHL Player of the Week awards. Both players had an outstanding week that’s led to Justin Ball being named SJHL player of the week, while Albrecht picks up SJHL Player of the Week-Runner Up.

1998 F Justin Ball (Saskatoon SK) erupted for a four-goal game against the Humboldt Broncos on Friday night and is riding a 13 game goal scoring streak and a 31 game point scoring streak.  Ball ended the week with 7-goals and 3-assists in 3-games played. Six goals and two assists came in the head to head sweep over Humboldt. He also had a goal and an assist against Yorkton and he leads the league in scoring with 37-goals and 25-assists in 33-games played.  Also worth noting Justin Ball has a goal in all 17 Mustang home games this season, which is an incredible feat and shows to how consistent he’s been all season.

1998 F Carson Albrecht(Martensville SK) had another big week for the Mustangs. Tuesday night he picked up a goal and an assist against Yorkton, but exploded this weekend in 2 meetings with Humboldt. Friday night Albrecht scored once and added four assists in the win! He kept things rolling on Saturday as he picked up another goal and an assist. In 3 games this week, Albrecht totaled 3 goals and 6 assists.

Ball(62) and Albrecht(55) now sit 1 and 2 in the scoring race and have a combined 117 points on the season! The highest of any duo in the SJHL. They will look to continue their great play on Friday when the Mustangs open a home and home with the Nipawin Hawks in Melfort! Game time is 7:30pm at the Palace.
