Mustangs Announce Board Changes Following 2026 AGM

The Ripley Ford Melfort Mustangs held their Annual General Meeting on August 18, providing an opportunity to reflect on the past year, recognize several long-serving members of the organization, and welcome new faces to the Board of Directors.

During the President’s Message, the organization recognized three board members who have stepped down after years of dedicated service to the Mustangs.

Lionel Shmyr steps away after an incredible 15 years with the organization, including 12 years serving as Governor. Throughout his time with the Mustangs, Lionel provided valuable leadership and represented the organization at the league level with dedication and professionalism.

Connie Van Camp also steps down after 15 years of service, including 10 years as Treasurer. Her commitment behind the scenes and the countless hours she dedicated to the organization have played an important role in the Mustangs’ continued success.

Jesiah Pask concludes five years of service on the Board of Directors. The Mustangs thank Jesiah for the time, energy, and commitment she has given to the organization and the community throughout her tenure.

The Mustangs sincerely thank Lionel, Connie, and Jesiah for everything they have contributed over the years. Volunteer board members play an important role in the operation and success of a community-owned hockey club, and their dedication has helped shape the organization.

The AGM also saw the addition of two new members to the Board of Directors, with Kelly Fraser and Brittany Elder joining the organization. The Mustangs are pleased to welcome Kelly and Brittany and look forward to the ideas, experience, and enthusiasm they will bring to the board.

There have also been changes within the board’s executive roles. Ryan Case will remain Vice President while also stepping into the role of Governor. Jade-Emma Bishop has taken on the role of Secretary, while Connie Carter will serve as Treasurer.

The Mustangs continue to have openings available on the Board of Directors. Anyone interested in becoming involved and helping contribute to the future of the organization is encouraged to reach out to the Mustangs for more information.

The organization would also like to thank all board members, volunteers, corporate partners, fans, billets, and members of the community who continue to give their time and support to the Mustangs. The strength of the organization continues to come from the people and businesses throughout Melfort and the surrounding communities who proudly support Mustangs hockey.
