Mustangs host Broncos to open Home and Home

The Melfort Mustangs open a busy weekend tonight as they look to snap a losing streak. The Mustangs welcome the Humboldt Broncos tonight before returning to Humboldt for the rematch tomorrow. Both games start at 7:30pm.

The Mustangs are coming off 3 straight losses, the first time that’s happened in the regular season since January of last year. Following a tough OT loss to Nipawin, the Mustangs dropped games to Flin Flon and La Ronge over the past 7 days. The injury big has bitten the Mustangs recently, but with veterans set to return the club will be back to full strength sooner rather than later. Kyle Bosch scored his first goal as a Mustang on Wednesday night, and now has 8 on the season. He leads the Mustangs in scoring with 34 points on the season.

The Humboldt Broncos enter tonight’s game with a 3-1-1 record in the month of January. After splitting games with the Yorkton Terriers, the Broncos beat the Notre Dame Hounds before also splitting two with the Kindersley KIippers. For the Broncos they currently sit 7th in the SJHL Standings but have made a solid move up in January. They now sit just 4 points back of Melfort and Nipawin. Logan Foster leads the Broncos in scoring this year with 55 points. Luke Spadafora sits right behind Foster, with 52 points himself. The Broncos dynamic duo has been great leading the team this season.
