It’s been a very busy month for the Melfort Mustangs. Along with a 7 game win streak the Mustangs are undefeated in February and look to continue winning into the playoffs in March. The big news right now is Justin Ball scored his 50th goal of the season in Melville on Wednesday night. Ball is just the third player since 2000 to notch a 50 goal SJHL season. He’s been nominated for league MVP because of it! Carson Albrecht fresh off his commitment to the university of North Dakota may be the hottest Mustang at the time. Coming off a 4 point night in Melville, Albrecht has 9 points in 3 games and has now broke the 80 point mark for the first time in his SJHL career. Albrecht has 5 goals in those 3 games and has been a big reason for the Mustang success. Something else to note for the Mustang line of Zentner, Ball and Albrecht, the trio have a combined 226 points on the season. Which trail the “Mustang Minion Line” of 2015-16 by just 11 points at 237. Mustang fans would remember the minion line in Melfort quite well, the Mustang top line won back to back Canalta Cup Championships in 2015 and 2016.

The Humboldt Broncos just had the longest win streak in the SJHL snapped on Monday when the lost to Kindersley 4-1, ending a 10 game win streak. The streak has moved the Broncos right back into the race for the Global Ag Risk Division title. Humboldt is tied with Kindersley at 71 points, however the Klippers have 2 games in hand. The SJHL’s longest win streak now belongs to the Melfort Mustangs at 7 games. Offensively the Broncos are led by Michael Clarke this season. His 66 points has him as the Global Ag Risk Solutions Division nominee for MVP. Brayden Camrud and Owen Guenter have also been big parts of the offence. Camrud has 55 points and leads the team with 27 goals. While Guenter’s 48 points, have him third in team scoring.

Tonight’s game has a 7:30pm puck drop from Humboldt and the game will be broadcasted on CK750 with pre game show set for 7:15pm.
