Melfort welcomes Weyburn for Tuesday Night Meeting

The Melfort Mustangs continue a 5 game home stretch tonight as they welcome the Weyburn Red Wings to the Northern Lights Palace. Game time is 7:30pm.

The Mustangs have been riding hot recently with 9 straight wins, the longest active streak in the SJHL. They have been led by Justin Ball and Carson Albrecht offensively. On the back end Shawn Parkinson has been great between the pipes with 6 straight wins to start his career as a Mustang. With the win streak the Mustangs have now climbed into top spot in  the Sher-Wood Division and #2 in the entire SJHL. They sit 2 points back of Humboldt for top spot, but have 3 games in hand.

The Weyburn Red Wings come into tonight’s game 4-6-0-0 in their last 10 games and are currently 11th in the SJHL, tied with Melville for 10th. Cade Kowalski leads the team in scoring and is having a great season with 11 goals and 23 assists. Riley Lamb leads the team between the pipes. He’s 8-8-2 on the season with a 3.15 GAA and a .921 save percentage. Tonight starts a 4 game, 5 night road trip for Weyburn. They will play every team in the Sher-Wood Division before the end of the weekend.

Tonight’s game starts at 7:30pm at the Northern Lights Palace as the Mustangs look to push the win streak to 10 games! Following tonight the Mustangs host the Yorkton Terriers on Friday. While the Weyburn Red Wings head to Flin Flon tomorrow to play the Bombers.
