Somers Commits to Melfort for 2021-22!

The Melfort Mustangs are proud to announce Zac Somers has committed to the team for the 2021-22 season!

Somers, from Melfort, Saskatchewan, is a 2004-born forward who has been in the Mustang system for a few seasons.

For the 2020-21 season, Somers had committed to play with the Tisdale Trojans U18 AAA team but it was unfortunately cut short due to COVID-19. Previous to Tisdale, he spent the 2019-20 season with the Prairie Hockey Academy CSSHL U16 team where he scored nine goals and added 21 assists in just 36 games. He added a goal and two assists in three playoff games.

“We’re excited to have Zac join our team.” Mustang Head Coach and GM Trevor Blevins said today. “His development over the last two years has been phenomenal. He will be a big part of our future and will step in and provide speed and skill to our team.”

The Mustangs auto-protected Somers before the 2019 SJHL draft as a local prospect, therefore making him ineligible for the draft.

Somers will join the Mustangs for the 2021-22 season this fall.
