The Melfort Mustangs are proud to announce that 2002-born defenceman Hayden Tuba has committed to Marian University (NCAA III) for the 2023/2024 season.
“I am very excited to be playing for Marian next year,” Tuba said. “They have a new coaching staff that puts great importance on a winning culture and team. The team is looking great for the upcoming season and I’m excited to get started in September.”
Tuba, out of South Delta, B.C., joined the Mustangs prior to the 2021/2022 season and immediately fit in with his physical presence and tough defensive play.
In his first year with the Mustangs, Tuba scored three goals, and added 15 assists in 38 games. He unfortunately did not participate in the playoffs that season due to injury.
This past season, Tuba played in 48 games for the Mustangs, scoring 10 goals, and adding 25 assists, good for 35 points. He would go on to add one assist in 10 playoff games.
Prior to his time with the Mustangs, Tuba played parts of three seasons in the BCHL between 2018 and 2021 with the Coquitlam Express and Surrey Eagles. He played a total of 18 games in the league, earning three assists.
Tuba joins fellow former Mustangs Seth McCulloch, Nolan Kadachuk, Adam Nobes, Alex Rondeau, and Austin Nault as members of the Sabres.
The Sabres are part of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association and play out of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
