Tyler Heidt Commits to Alaska-Anchorage for 2018-19

The Melfort Mustangs are proud to announce this morning that D-man Tyler Heidt has accepted a scholarship to the University of Alaska-Anchorage for the 2018-19 season!

“Tyler came to us with minimal defence experience, but we soon saw that he was a player that can play in all situations and succeed,” said Coach Trevor Blevins.  “Tyler is very coachable and his development is evident this last season.  The sky is the limit for Tyler and Anchorage Alaska has gained the commitment of a quality player.”

Tyler Heidt, has played one season with the Melfort Mustangs where he scored 7 times to go along with 14 assists in 54 games. He also added 1 goal in 4 playoff games. Tyler was named to the SJHL All-Rookie Team in 2016-17.

Previous to his time in Melfort, Heidt played two seasons in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League with the Saskatoon Contacts. There he scored 11 goals and 24 assists in 86 games.

The Alaska Anchorage Seawolves men’s ice hockey team is a NCAA Division 1 College ice hockey program that represents the University of Alaska Anchorage. The Seawolves are a member of the WCHA and play at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, Alaska.

Tyler Heidt will return to Melfort for the upcoming 2017-18 hockey season before heading to Alaska-Anchorage.
