Boedy Donald commits to RDC!

The Melfort Mustangs are proud to announce Defenceman Boedy Donald has committed to the Red Deer College Kings for the 2019-20 hockey season!

Donald, from Star City Saskatchewan, has played the last three seasons in Melfort and was named an assistant captain his final season. Boedy was a great leader both on and off the ice. Whether it was lending a hand with minor hockey, reading to kids at school, or helping unload a Salvation Army truck, Boedy was always first to raise a hand.

Boedy is now the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s all time leader in games played with 281, over his five seasons with Melfort, Nipawin and Kindersley. In 56 regular season games this year, Donald set career highs with 5 goals and 14 assists for 19 points. He added another 3 assists during the Mustangs run to the SJHL Finals.

“We are very proud of Boedy and what he accomplished with the Melfort Mustangs and the SJHL. He definitely deserves this opportunity with Red Deer College.” Mustangs Head Coach Trevor Blevins said. “Boedy was an assistant captain on our hockey club and brought tremendous leadership to our dressing room. His character is through the roof and Red Deer is getting an outstanding person and player.”

He will now join the Red Deer College Kings who compete in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference against teams like NAIT, SAIT and Briercrest. They begin the 2019-20 season this fall.

The Mustangs would like to congratulate to Boedy on his commitment to Red Deer College, we would also like to thank you for the past three seasons as a Melfort Mustang, and wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
