Evans Commits to University of Dubuque

The Melfort Mustangs a very proud to announce that 2003-born forward Tye Evans has committed to the University of Dubuque (NCAA III) for the 2023/2024 season.

Evans spent parts of the last two seasons with the Mustangs. Most recently, Evans played 42 games with Melfort in the 2022/2023 regular season, scoring six goals and adding 11 assists for 17 points. He would go on to add a goal and two assists in eight playoff games.

The Grande Prairie, Alta. product spent the end of the 2021/2022 and the beginning of the 2022/2023 season with the La Ronge Ice Wolves, skating in 38 regular season games over the two seasons, scoring nine goals and adding 17 assists for 26 points. He had three assists in six playoff games as well for the Ice Wolves.

Evans started his SJHL with Melfort in 2021/2022, scoring twice in 13 games and adding one assist as well.

Prior to joining the SJHL, Evans spend two seasons in the Grande Prairie Storm U18 AAA organization, tallying 14 points in 35 regular season games and seven points across five playoff games.

The University of Dubuque Spartans play out of Dubuque, Iowa as part of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) and are new to NCAA III hockey as of the 2023/2024 season.
