Hufty Commits to Melfort for 2022/2023

The Melfort Mustangs are excited to announce that 2004-born forward Jacob Hufty has committed to the Mustangs for the 2022/2023 season.

Hufty, a Kamloops, B.C. product, played this past season for the Thompson Blazers U18 AAA club in the BCEHL. In 36 games, the 6’2″,  175 lbs forward scored 14 goals and added 17 assists for 31 points. His 31 points were tied for the team lead, while his 14 goals were the third most for the Blazers.

“Jacob is an excellent skater that uses his speed to his advantage,” said Mustangs Head Coach and General Manager Trevor Blevins. “He plays with energy and is dangerous around the net. He is an exciting player for fans to see this season.”

Hufty also spent time during the 2021/2022 season with the Merritt Centennials of the BCHL, playing four games but was held pointless. He also played two regular season games for the Kamloops Storm of the KIJHL, scoring one goal. Hufty then scored once in four playoff games for the Storm this year.

During the 2020/2021 COVID-shortened season, Hufty played nine games for Okanagan Hockey Academy U18 Prep squad, scoring six goals and adding eight assists for 14 points in 9 games.
