Mustangs acquire former SJHL Champion from Penticton

The Melfort Mustangs have made one trade this weekend acquiring 1997-born Forward Ben Allen from the Penticton Vees of the BCHL for a Player Development Fee.

Allen, from Allen, Texas, has appeared in 37 games with the Vees this season scoring 4 times while adding 7 assists. Previous to Penticton, Allen played with Battlefords last season winning an SJHL Championship with the Stars. In 44 regular season games he scored 19 goals and added 26 assists for 45 points. In 12 playoff games he added another 13 points.

Playing in his last season of Junior eligibility Allen has committed to playing NCAA Div 1 with the University of Alabama-Hunstville next season.

Allen is travelling today and is expected to be in the Melfort lineup tomorrow night vs the Flin Flon Bombers. Game time is 7:30pm at the Northern Lights Palace.
