The Melfort Mustangs are proud to announce graduating forward Tian Rask has committed to the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds for the 2020-21 season!

Rask, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, came to the Mustangs at the December 1st trade deadline in a deal with the Canmore Eagles. Rask played two and a half seasons in Canmore before finishing his junior career in Melfort. In 26 regular season games, Rask scored 12 goals and added 16 assists for 28 points with the Mustangs. In four playoff games he added a goal and an assist.

“The UBC program is getting a quality player and person with Tian Rask.  He was a difference maker in our lineup and in our dressing room.” Mustang Head Coach and General Manager Trevor Blevins said. “He brings leadership qualities through and through and brought a competitive edge to our team that was contagious.  We wish him all the best in hockey and future endeavours.”

Rask will join UBC this fall. The Thunderbirds are a USports hockey program that compete in the Canada West Conference.

The Mustangs would like to thank Tian for his time in Melfort. He was a valuable asset to our hockey team and community. We wish him the best with UBC.
