Rivalry Renewed, Nipawin @ Melfort- 7:30pm

The Melfort Mustangs will host the Nipawin Hawks tonight at the Northern Lights Palace. Game time is 7:30pm and it’s the fourth meeting of the season between the two teams.

Currently, Melfort(13-4-2-1) sit 4 points up on Nipawin(11-4-1-2) but the Hawks have 2 games in hand. The Mustangs have enjoyed success against the Hawks this season winning all 3 previous matchups. The Hawks however have managed a pair of points in the meetings. Forcing one game to OT and one to a shoot-out.

The Mustangs have picked up wins in back to back games over Flin Flon and Estevan without a few key pieces in the lineup. Battling Injuries, illness and suspensions this time of year can be tough but the Mustangs have found a way to get wins. Kalem Zary has led the way offensively, as in his last 4 games he’s picked up 1 goal and 7 assists for 8 points. Hunter Arps has gotten the call between the pipes the last two games and he’s won both with a combined .913 Save Percentage. Since coming back from Victoria in the WHL Arps has been a great piece for the Mustangs, really solidifying things between the pipes alongside Evan Plotnik.

The Nipawin Hawks set out on the road last weekend to play 3 games in 3 nights. They started out strong beating the Weyburn Red Wings on Friday but after back to back losses to Notre Dame and Estevan they dropped a little in the SJHL Standings. They will look for their first win against Melfort tonight at the Northern Lights Palace.

Tonight’s game begins at 7:30pm from the Northern Lights Palace. If you’re travelling from out of town or just don’t want to stand in line! Get your tickets online at tickets.melfortmustangs.com!
