Mustangs head to Kindersley up 2-0

The Melfort Mustangs head out on the road for the first time in the playoffs as they travel to Kindersley for Games 3 and 4. Tonight is Game 3 and the Mustangs lead the series 2-0 following two solid games at home.

Game 1 was a sluggish affair as the feeling out process hit both teams. Kindersley would eventually score the first goal, before Albrecht would tie it on the Power Play. Albrecht would then win it with just 2 minutes left, his second power play goal of the night on a great pass from Kayle Tosh! Noah Giesbrecht was great in game 1 standing on his head. He was a big reason for the Mustang 2-1 win.

In Game 2 the Mustangs came out much stronger. They scored goals early as Justin Ball got his first of the post season, while Braeden Young also go his first to make it 2-0 Mustangs. Kindersley wouldn’t go away as they cut the lead in half 2-1. Melfort would respond as Carson Albrecht got his 3rd of the playoffs putting the Mustangs back up by two, 3-1. That would be the game winner, as George King would score and Carson Albrecht added an empty net goal for a 5-2 Melfort victory.

With the win on Saturday the Mustangs take a 2-0 series lead as it shifts back to Kindersley for Games 3 and 4. With only 1 day of rest the teams will end up playing the first 4 games in just 5 nights.
