MATT HERMARY JOINS THE SJHL AFTER A SEASON IN THE BCHL
The Melfort Mustangs have traded for 1997 born Coquitlam B.C. product Matt Hermary. The 6’, 195 lbs. forward has been acquired from the English River Miners of the Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL) for player development fees.
Hermary has been playing junior hockey since the 2014-2015 season when he began playing for the North Van Wolf Pack of the PIJHL junior B hockey league. After one season playing Jr. B, Hermary made the jump to Jr. A hockey and played a season with the Surrey Eagles of the BCHL during the 2015/2016 season. He played 55 games and finished with 5 goals and 5 assists for a total of 10 points. During the off-season of 2016 Hermary was sent to English River, but before the season even started he was moved again to join us here as a Melfort Mustang.
If the Hermary name seems familiar to any Mustang fans, it’s for good reason. Matt’s older brother Nic Hermary played with the Mustangs for two seasons, including one Canalta Cup championship, before moving on to play NCAA hockey for St. Micheal’s Purple Knights.
