A TRIP DOWN SOUTH RESULTS IN A LOSS FOR THE STANGS
The Melfort boys made the trip down to Wilcox on Tuesday to play their final game against Notre Dame of the year. Despite playing a great first period, the ‘Stangs went into the break trailing 1-2 and registering 14 shots on net.Both Notre Dame and Melfort would score again in the second frame, and that’s how the game would finish after a scoreless third. Miles Warkentine and Reed Gunville scored goals for Melfort, with Dakota Boutin (2a) and Kalem Zary (1a) also picking up points.
This loss makes Melfort’s record 20-27-2-4 for a total of 46 points and 10th place. The top ten teams in the SJHL make play-offs, with 6-10th playing off in a survivor series to begin the post season. The biggest threat to Melfort right now are the Melville Millionaires who sit in 11th place with 42 points and a game in hand on Melfort.
